Very recently, the International Stadiums Poker Tour has made two announcements prior to its first tournament which is yet to be held. The ISPT belongs to a high-flying venture of the French financing company Groupe Bernard Tapie, whose attempt to purchase the now-defunct Full Tilt Poker failed. GBT, however, moved one step ahead with its plans for the ISPT and announced their first tournament to be held at legendary Wembley Stadium in London from May 31 to June 6th of next year. Previously, GBT made another announcement about signing a very prestigious deal to lend credence to their plans.
In an important announcement, the ISPT declared that three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner – and two time $50,000 Poker Players’ Champion at the WSOP – Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has been determined as the official ambassador for the ISPT. Though his twitter account, Mizrachi informed his followers about the deal, twitting, “I just want to announce I will be @ISPT_poker official ambassador. Will be one of the biggest tournaments ever held!”
Mizrachi has been chosen unanimously for being the ambassador because of the successes he has on the felt. Mizrachi holds three WSOP bracelets, two World Poker Tour titles, the $50K Poker Players’ Championship, and, earnings over $14 million.
This year, through Wembley tournament, what the ISPT is offering, if achieved, would bring a revolution in the world of poker. Wembley has aimed at drawing around 30,000 players from all over the world. After the qualification rounds, the players would participate in live and online tables, reaching a final table with the championship prize of around €10 million (approximately $12,281,000 U. S. dollars) from an estimated €30 million prize pool.
In another announcement, the ISPT has also commenced one of the first live event qualifiers for the Wembley tournament. The Tangiers Casino inMoroccowill be offering a Main Event from August 22-26 to give out the seats to the inaugural ISPT event.
Today, ISPT has become the talk of the day in the poker world. People in the poker community are questioning the logistics of ISPT the how it can pull off such a big event. Then there is a doubt about the building the player pool. To reach their targeted 30,000 players, the ISPT is recommended to either partner with an online site or build their own.
The time is passing and the entire poker world is now eyeing on Mizrachi. However, with 309 days left for the Wembley event the poker world will be waiting to see if GBT can actually lead the International Stadiums Poker Tour successfully.
