Greg Merson Eyeing Second Bracelet At The WSOP Main EventNot many online cash poker players may carve a niche for themselves, but that just changed after Greg Merson grabbed enough attention at this WSOP Main Event. For those who want a recap on Greg Merson’s performance this summer, he won the bracelet for event number 57, the $10,000 six handed no limit hold’em event and now has geared up to win one again at the Main Event.

The 25 year old pro had just a couple of blinds on the day 5 and there were 150 players left after he had Fabrizio Gonzalez doubled. With a second pair and a nut flush draw, Merson lost to Gonzalez and his set. But later when the stacks were counted, Merson was found to have covered Gozalez just fine.

On being asked what if his tournament journey would have ended on the next hand, he said he was okay with all that he had won this summer and he could not deny that this summer was a great one for him. So far, Merson has been good at the game and lucky stars seem to be shining at him as he first had a double up. Then he again doubled up and had enough stack to make some more moves. He then gave some players hard time winning and knocked them out. Then he was back to average.

Now, as only 9 players remain in the Main Event, it is quite evident that Merson will march up for the final table, and this is something that must be worrying many of the players onboard in the Main Event. Merson has just spiced up the event and his stakes at winning his second bracelet at the WSOP are high as ever.

He has a guaranteed $754,798 at this event instead of the $52,718 payday. Adding it up with his summer winnings of $16,850 and his whopping score of $1,136,197, Merson looks better than ever. However, according to him, making it to the final table would be a greater achievement on his part because he was not that recognized when he played online cash games. This disadvantage did not let him convince his friends and family that he was faring well playing poker. But now that he has got this far and has a fair chance of making it to the final table, he would be on the television, playing and taking home insanely high amounts of money. This according to him would be like validating his talent at poker and shutting the mouths of all the people who thought he was not able enough to get where he is today.
