Scott Seiver Wins PartyPoker Premier League V
Apr 19, 2012 Party Poker Poker Tournaments

Scott Seiver, the winner of PartyPoker Premier League V, gifted himself half a million dollars early before his 27th birthday. Although, many in the poker community expected Mathew Frankland, who already possessed the largest chip stack and earned the most points in the preliminary heats, to continue Cindrella story for one more day. Frankland was defeated by Scott Seiver in the final table. Frankland, however, did finish at seventh place in the event.
In fact, winning the final table was not easy for Scott Seiver, there were seasoned veterans such as Erik Seidel, Phil Laak, and Tony G at the table, and finally, Scott Seiver and Mathew Frankland, the two young players survived for the final round. Lastly, Scott Seiver and online phenom Daniel “Jungleman” Cates, fought for the championship. The two young guns started heads-up play in almost a dead heat in chips. Cates and Seiver moved with 1.295 million and 1.245 million each. Very soon, Seiver picked up chips of all those remained in all-in with pocket Kings and took a lead of 500,000 chips and forced Cates to fold his chips just after a three-bet.
After a few minutes, Seiver extended his lead to 2-to-1. Daniel Cates made a move with blinds at 20,000/40,000 and with a pocket pair hand he got all-in pre-flop with 7-7. While, Seiver was all-in and setting a coin flip with K-Q. When it came down to T-T-4, having denied a pair, Cates limited any straight possibilities and laid down his arms and Seiver spiked a king and as a result ended up with the title and the $500,000 first prize.
But there was something good for the other players as well in the PartyPoker Premier League V. Each player was awarded $2,000 for each point they earned in the preliminary heats. The player’ standing of the event was determined on the basis of total winnings including the bonus money. Although, all the 16 players won prize money, but only Seiver, Cates, Laak, Patrik Antonius, Tony G, Frankland, and Tom Dwan earned enough to cover the $125,000 buy-in.
