When a legend begets a legend, it does not get any better. Todd Alan Brunson, the son of veteran poker player Doyle Brunson, has followed his father’s footsteps in an unconventional way. Todd Brunson was born in 1969 and pursued a major in Law from Texas Tech University, before he decided to drop the subject. It was during his college days, Brunson took a keen interest in poker, not drawing any sort of inspiration from his father. He tried to explore his career as a professional poker player since he dropped the college.
Todd Brunson is more actively engaged in playing cash games of poker and he is a regular at the Bellagio in Las Vegas along with his crowned father Doyle Brunson. In recent times Todd has shown interest in playing in big tournament events. He won a poker bracelet by playing in the Omaha High Low event at the World Series of Poker in 2005. He now shares with his father the bracelet victory at the WSOP. He has also helped his father in writing a book on poker. Brunson is known as Darkhorse and plays tactfully to beat and defeat his fellow players and opponents.
In 2006, Todd Brunson participated in a tournament and was able to defeat his fellow player amassing cash prize of $400,000. He won a whopping $13.5 in two days in a limit hold-EM game and he also participated in the Ultimate Poker Challenge. He also featured in the series of High Stakes Poker and he also made a guest appearance in a poker series season in Las Vegas in 2009. His earnings from playing tournaments in poker sum up to $3,300,000. It is strange to witness that being the son of Doyle Brunson; Todd Brunson didn’t get proper exposure during his childhood to poker. His sudden interest in poker made Todd Brunson brought him into the limelight.
He started taking poker seriously at the age of 21 and he participated in the Diamond Jim Brady Tournament. But in spite of tasting success by playing in great poker events and tournaments, Todd Brunson prefers to hold on to cash games due to his passion for earning money. He invests money in other avenues to promote poker as much as he can and he is a representative and manger of his father’s poker room. He also contributed a section in his father’s book on poker as well as for player Daniel Negreanu’s book. Brunson resides in Las Vegas at present. He has also played in several final tables at the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tournament events.
